You will normally need to submit a Site Plan (also called a Block Plan) and a Location Plan (also called a Site Location Plan).

Getting your maps right
It's important to get your planning map right; without it your application could be invalidated.
Common mistakes made on Maps submitted with planning applications are:
- the map used is not up to date
- the map is at the wrong scale or the scale bar is missing
- the map is printed at the wrong size
- the red outline is missing or incomplete
- the blue outline is missing where it should be shown
- there is not enough detail shown
- not enough area is covered
- How to get your Site Plan or Location plan accepted by the council
When preparing your planning application maps you should use:
- Most recent revision of mapping
- Best quality mapping available, we use Ordnance Survey Mastermap
Your map should include:
- north arrow
- clearly shown metric scale, this is a different scale for Location Plans and Site Plans.
- red outline of the development area
- blue outline of additional land owned if necessary
- correct area mapped
The most common reason for planning applications being rejected by councils is that the accompanying plans are invalid.
